Laura Lawson
After her four year break from reality in Athens, fate stepped in and handed her the career every Georgia graduate dreams of, a gig in the wine business. After a brief stint in Atlanta, she was moved to North Carolina to continue to ply and hone her trade, after all the wine business had been berry, berry good for her. Laura has made the wine business her home. Each week she brings a unique perspective to the listeners and enjoys sharing her knowledge with the audience. She believes her pursuit of knowledge has led her to four truths: 1. A day in which nothing is learned is wasted. 2. The more she learns, the less she knows. 3. A day without wine just meant that it was time for Scotch and finally, 4. Drink more; it will eventually all go away. She looks forward to coming to the table each week to take on Michael and listeners love her quick witted style. |
Michael Ambrose
While Michael worked as a ski instructor during the winter and a crop duster during the summer, he was introduced to resort restaurant management through a number of jobs that included bartending, waiting tables, managing restaurants and owning several restaurant operations. In 1983, Michael moved to Charleston, South Carolina where he began working in the private club side of the Hospitality business. He worked hard and by the late '80's began reaping the rewards of his efforts. While serving as Clubhouse Manager at Carmel Country Club, Michael received the award for having the "Best wine list in the United States for private Clubs". Michael twice became one of the 25 finalists in the National Wine Wizards Contest. He also twice won the wine contest awarded by the International Wine Society at the CMAA National Conference. Last year, Charlotte Taste Magazine recognized his River Run Country Club as having the best country club wine program in Charlotte. |

Laura Lawson was born and raised in Atlanta, the only daughter of an engineer and a teacher; which meant that from an early age she could analyze just about any situation and tell you precisely what you did wrong. Very much a daughter of the South, she pursued her higher education at the University of Georgia where she majored in Business a few times, with a minor in business law-just in case she could not argue her point well enough by then.
Michael grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated with a biology degree from Western Carolina University. After 5 years of military duty, Michael decided that before getting a "real" job, he would spend 4 months in Aspen, Colorado. Four months ended up being ten years, and he lived a lifestyle that most people dream of.
