Erath 2008 Oregon Pinot Noir

I had the pleasure of sharing this wine with some great friends a few weeks ago.

It is a light red that looks beautiful in the class.   Bright cherry and juicy red plum aromas are lifted by a hint of exotic, zesty spice. The sweet entry leads to mouth-filling cherry pie, red currant and vanilla-coffee flavors that extend into a subtle smokiness and a long, luxurious finish.

The name may have gotten my attention but it is an excellent wine as well.

With inky purple color, this wine reveals scents of wild strawberry, mocha, and caramel with touches of sage and rosemary. The flavors burst through with intense blueberry and strawberry jam notes wrapped around rich French oak and finishing with touches of milk chocolate, sweetened cranberries, and savory herbs.

An extremely dense, multi-layered, and altogether mesmerizing wine. Opens with aromas of blueberries, quince jelly, framboise, and marzipan.

On the palate the wine unleashes a silky wallop of black fruits, caramel, truffled chocolates, fresh plums, Christmas spices, and black tea. The melange of flavors is joined by a deep toasty char as they echo throughout the ridiculously long finish.
