Wine of the Week

Speaking of matching wines with personality... See if you think the description matches me..

The wine offers great weight and depth with spiced pears, ginger, honeysuckle and orange blossom aromas and flavors. Barrel fermentation and aging in French oak has added hints of fresh nutmeg and vanilla bean. Minerals permeate the lingering, complex finish of the wine.

2007 BV Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

The 375 bottles are great for gifts.

Smooth and velvety, our 2007 Beaulieu Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon brims with dark cherry, blackberry and plum character. Hints of rose, chocolate and toasty oak weave through the enticing aromas and mouth filling flavors, finishing with warmth and spice.

2009 Etude Pinot Gris

Sunday, November 14, 2010

I am bringing one back because it will fit perfectly with your Thanksgiving buffet.

This Etude Pinot Gris opens with inviting aromas of white stone fruit, honey suckle and jasmine. The pure flavors of white peach, nectarine and Meyer lemon carry over on the palate and mingle with subtle lemon-lime notes. Crisp acidity opens up to reveal minerality that keeps the wine lifted, focused and refreshing.  It will run you about $23.

This recommendation is a little different, but great for the holiday season that is approaching. Can be served as a dinner or after dinner drink.

An exceptionally fine old tawny blend, aged for an average of 10 years in oak casks. Elegant and smooth, combining delicate wood notes and rich mellow fruit, it is bottled for immediate drinking. Excellent with soft cheeses such as brie; and a superb dessert wine, particularly with dishes made with coffee or almonds.  Usually runs between $25 and $30.
