Wine of the Week

La Serenne shows the same wild character

that Syrah from a cooler site can take on: blackberry and black cherry are accented by anise, rocks, spice and leather.  It’s dense and yet supple, with the usual La Serenne seamlessness, and has a lift that keeps it bright and sailing through to the finish.

Dog House Chardonnay

Monday, September 13, 2010

This is a tremendous wine for the fall...tailgating and all.

This chardonnay boasts refreshing citrus and green apple aromas, juicy lemon and caramel apple flavors, and a rich, creamy mouthfeel balanced by a friendly nip of acidity. It pairs well with fried chicken...for those weekends rooting for your team!

A rather intense, complex bouquet combining floral notes

(acacia blossom, vine flowers) with fruity aromas (mandarin orange, white peach). A hint of rhubarb rounds out the medley.  Fresh and full-bodied, the palate opens up to pleasing flavors of orange and grapefruit, enriched with a hint of yellow peach. Lovely length with orange zest on the finish.  It will run you about $24.
